AUSTRALIAN designer Collette Dinnigan is launching a contemporary clothing line, eponymously named Collette.

“I’ve always wanted to do a diffusion line,” revealed the designer, who debuted a lingerie collection for Marks & Spencer in May. “This felt like the right moment to do it.”

Dinnigan describes the new designs as “a travel-leisure collection. Much more relaxed and bohemian – I call it city-to-surf.”

The 35-piece line-up maintains the designers feminine signatures of intricate embroideries and pretty prints, featuring smocks and dresses cut from resort-friendly cottons and linens in an array of colourful paisley prints.

“It’s the way I dress, actually,” Dinnigan told WWD. “When you’re a working mum in the country, you want to wear very loose and easy clothes.”

Another new line to look forward to is a one from New York label Milly, which has just announced that it will soon present a new accessories collection of brightly coloured handbags in leather, nylon and canvas.
