VOGUE cover girl Gemma Ward has landed her first leading acting role, according to the model’s IMDb page which lists her as a potential cast member for the remake of the 1962 film Jack the Giant Killer.

If the rumours are true, Ward will play the role of Princess Elaine in the modern fairytale, directed by Bryan Singer and written by Christopher McQuarrie who also wrote The Usual Suspects and Angelina Jolie’s soon to be released film The Tourist. Other star cast members include Sam Taylor Wood’s fiancé Aaron Johnson. The film will tell the story of a young farmer who ventures into the ominous terrain of giants to rescue a princess.

Ward has previously featured in Australian film The Black Balloon and will reportedly play a mermaid in the next instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean, due out in summer next year
