The Model Family

DAVID WALLIAMS and his supermodel wife Lara Stone could be expecting model babies in the future.

“We’ve talked about having kids but there are a few things we want to do first – travel, careers. Obviously if you’re an international supermodel it’s harder. You can’t do a sexy Calvin Klein advert if you’re six months pregnant. But I would love kids,” he tells the Sun

Walliams says his lifestyle has changed dramatically since marrying Stone in May.

“It’s a lovely thing to fall in love, to come back and feel like you’ve got a home. I would be at work filming and my wife would be saying, ‘What time are you home because I want to put the shepherd’s pie on?’ I never thought I’d have that – an international supermodel who can make a great shepherd’s pie.”

Model Campbell

EDIE CAMPBELL may be the model of the moment but her name has led to a spate of unwanted associations.

“I’ve been making a diary of the daft things people have said during London Fashion Week and it does wear a little bit thin everyone comparing my name to Edie Sedgwick,” she tells us. “I was at a casting the other day and this model booker said to me ‘So you’re called Edie – Edie like eating disorder?’ I think he was saying it in a tongue-in-cheek way but what on earth do you say to that?”

Campbell, who is currently studying History of Art at The Courtauld Institute in London, likes the balance between her academic and fashion life.

“Fashion’s a pretty strange world and the past year had been insane so it’s really nice to be around a mixture of the two,” she says. “I’m not sure what I’ll end up doing with my degree but I’m really enjoying it for now.”

A self-confessed anti shopper (“I prefer to acquire than to buy”), 19-year-old Campbell has worked with the industry’s most influential photographers.

“Testino is such a kind, generous man and he always remembers you which is nice,” she says. “Juergen (Teller) is great too. He gets the job done really quickly, then goes ‘Come on let’s get lunch’ – it’s fan-bloody-tastic.”

Campbell is currently signed with Viva London.

The Model Couple

OLIVIA PALERMO will star in the new Mango campaign alongside her model boyfriend Johannes Huebl.

Did she feel shy working with her long-term beau?

“I was at first, it was really embarrassing – but then I remembered it was just him and I could just be normal – so then it was really fun.”

Talking at the Matthew Williamson show yesterday and wearing a sweet silk khaki dress by Julian J Smith paired with Williamson heels, Palermo is happy to be in London again despite breaking her phone and not being able to contact anybody. She told us that she and Huebl are starring in the new adverts with Scarlett Johannson and Poppy Delevingne who, she says, “I haven’t seen since the shoot so I can’t wait to see her this week” – then they ended up sitting next to each other at Matthew’s show and gave each other a huge hug.

So will the couple be featuring on Mango billboards across the country?

“I don’t know about that but I’m really pleased to have done it,” she said.

CALVIN KLEIN’s creative director Francisco Costa has suggested the era of the waif maybe officially over.

“Calvin Klein originally started the whole waif moment and not much has been done since then,” he told us. “My clothes look better on a more diverse casting – to represent the women who actually buy them. They can be 35 or 25 but they need to be worn on intelligent, experienced women. [Our decision to use older models] was very natural. We have succeeded so far and we hope to continue with that.”

Calvin Klein has a range of different muses from Diane Kruger to Zoe Saldana but Costa seems most proud of his Lara Stone discovery.

“Lara was our exclusive four years ago,” Costa said. “We’ve never had someone who really represented our houses and all our licensees in the same way. She is very current, very beautiful and very womanly. It’s time for that persona and for that body. She’s divine, gorgeous and we will support her in that.”
