The Style Launch

MODEL and entrepreneur Summer Rayne launched her new enterprise – Source4Style design portal – at Next Models headquarters with Tyrone Wood, former Burberry star Emily Hope and Chanel muse Ella Kandyba.

“It’s all going so well,” Rayne told us last night. “I haven’t stopped talking all night – it’s a great turn out.” Her idea, Source4Style, is a website that makes it easy for designers to use materials that are ethical and environmentally-friendly through a simple search-and-source facility.

Organic canapés came via Jo Wood’s catering company, Mrs Paisley’s Lashings, and included mixed seafood ceviche, spicy crab with dried mango and chili on toast and wild mushroom rarebit – washed down with organic mojitos and mangosteen cocktails.

Paris Hilton’s Court Style

Here at StyleBistro HQ, we like to kick around a theory about Paris Hilton: That, behind her flaky, fake-tan, Barbie-esque persona, there lies an incredibly astute self-marketer who has you (and us) wrapped around her well-manicured pinkie finger. Witness exhibit A: Paris’ conservative court attire.

Remember, this is the same heiress who paraded her bod all across Europe in vibrant monokinis this summer; one who can rock a leopard-print slip dress and manage to pull a floor-length ballgown all the way over her head. (Look mom, no panties!) But, for today’s appearance at a Las Vegas court to settle that pesky matter of cocaine possession, Paris pulled out the perfect mea culpa ensemble: A black-and-cream wrap shirt dress and a sweet-as-honey diamond bow pendant.

The savvy socialite finished her look with demure black pumps, a half-up hairstyle and an expression of utter innocence. Perhaps it worked: Paris walked away with only a slap on her pretty wrist.

I’m Wearing style

VOGUE.COM’S Today I’m Wearing style blog has sparked a trend across the web as more online fashion diaries emerge.

Hot on its heels, Courtney Love recently launched What Courtney Wore Today, a gallery of past and present photos documenting the singer’s daily style choices, while Rumi Neely’s Fashion Toast offers captioned shots of her eclectic Californian look. Katie Mackay and Joe Sinclair’s What Katie Wore, has also proved the popularity of self-snapped photo-based fashion blogs – as reported by The Observer Magazine this weekend.

Past VOGUE.COM Today I’m Wearing contributors have included Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung, Olivia Palermo, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

This month’s style inspiration is model and actress Tolula Adeyemi. Watch out for next month’s latest recruit, Amber Le Bon.

INTERNATIONAL First Ladies Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron are the favourites of Vanity Fair’s 2010 International Best Dressed List.

“Michelle Obama plays a very important role in fashion right now,’ Vanity Fair’s special correspondent Amy Fine Collins said. “People who make the list are individuals. They don’t look like everyone else. They tend to be fashion leaders, not followers.”

Samantha Cameron made her debut on the list while Obama celebrated her fourth consecutive appearance. Cameron has made history by becoming the first visibly pregnant woman to score a place on the illustrious poll.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Lady Gaga, Carey Mulligan, David Beckham and John Galliano also scored positions on the annual compendium which has been running for 71 years.

miamiswim
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim brought with it an influx of top models, beautiful bikinis, and sun loving designers. This season’s highlights included the Mara Hoffman show, which was inspired by a jungle journey, the Swimwear anywhere show, which  brought a variety of brands wares to the iconic Raleigh pool, and the amazing caftans that graced the runway at Trina Turk. Beach Bunny caused the week’s largest paparazzi frenzy as Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian all sat front row to watch their designs for the label go down the runway.  Other star sightings included Lance Bass, who palled around with Lorenzo Martone and John Legend, who made his only appearance at Thursday night’s Ocean Drive party at Plunge  atop the Gansevoort Hotel. Legend was among the hundreds of guests who had to scramble for an elevator in the midst of a downpour. Many decided to take the stairs down 20 flights to avoid getting drenched while others waited their turn before heading down to STK for a cocktail and steak. Bass and Martone were also on hand Sunday afternoon at The Standard, where Quicksilver launched their latest swimwear vending machines with a pool party, beer pong, and a Cuban BBQ. All of the eye candy was enough to beat the Miami heat…and speaking of the Heat, Dwyane Wade was spotted around town  throughout the weekend, causing the swimsuit set to pay attention to the city’s impressive  roster. Hoops are getting a bit hauter!

The spring months of the year color the European and all other in the same ‘season zone’ lying (natural) beaches with lively vegetation; the non-natural beaches never change their look.

Assumed to go to a natural beach, what has the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle industry therefore ‘on stock’ this year?

‘Hampton Top’ in silk by Aaron Ashe spring/summer 2010; photo by Grey Lockwood; styling by Ronit Nabi; http://www.aaronashe.com.

Aaron Ashe is the label of Ellie Shabatian from Los Angeles.

Fashionoffice asked the pressoffice of Aaron Ashe: “Why has she chosen Aaron Ashe as the brand name and not her own which sounds also very good.”

Pressoffice Aaron Ashe: “Ellie named her collection after her parents, by using both their first names. She honors her parents for their support and love by naming her collection after each of them.”

Ellie has started her label with the spring 2009 collection. Her easy to wear pieces are made of silk. Each of the Aaron Ashe pieces has another name: they are named after places the designer has visited around the world; like the ‘Hampton Top’ on this page.

Anemone Ring from the Milan based jewelery designer Daniela De Marchi. The fusion of the elements water, air, earth and fire is a signature of the designer’s work. It’s intended that the ring of precious stones with less noble metals has a creature-like appeal; it’s a symbol for the sea.

“Silver is moulded by fire, like it is coming out of magma. The matter burns, becomes dark and an unknown sea creature is born. The mystery is soon lightened up by the charm of diamonds, set on the sting’s ends. The tips seem to float into water, moved by a constant sea wind that gives life to every static movement,” describes Daniela De Marchi the jewellery.

The graduate from the ‘Istituto Europeo del Design’ in Milan has founded her label in 2000. Daniela De Marchi has developed an own technique which she has taken from the production of wax to create the form of ‘Dropage’. For the ‘Dropage’-effect, she is using heat to bring the material to a liquid state and then she brings it back again to a solid state of tiny drops. This gives her pieces the volcanic touch.

“I don’t copy, I don’t invent anything; I listen to the form and mould the material – beauty thrives in every object. Trees, cork, coral, cliffs, leaves; images from the subconscious, atemporal, remind me that I exist. Everything is part of me. Absolute beauty is the soul of the world,” says the designer Daniela De Marchi about her work.
